An elderly woman is cruising around a busy car park just before Christmas. Driving her Mercedes Benz she is looking for that elusive parking space.
At last she spots someone, loaded with shopping, heading for a car. She slowly follows him and waits patiently until he pulls out. But just as he pulls out a young man in a sleek black Porsche zips into the space before she has even taken her hand brake off! Needless to say she is dumbfounded and outraged!
The elderly lady jumps out of her car, storms up to the young man in the driving seat of the Porsche and knocks on his window. Pressing the button to open the window he is confronted with her rage as she shouts: “How could you do that? Didn’t you see me waiting there with my signal on?” He casually replies “Sorry lady but that’s what happens when you are young and fast”
Minutes later, after the man has left his car and is headed towards the shops he hears he crunch of metal striking metal. He runs back, Horrified, to see that the woman has ploughed her Mercedes straight into his beautiful black Porsche.
Running up to the lady he screams “How could you do that? Smiling she says “That’s what happens when you are old and rich!”

Well, parking is an emotive and controversial issue.
Its often said on the one hand its too expensive and on the other hand you can’t find a space! Quite a contradiction. It all comes down to supply and demand.
I have been involved in managing roads, traffic and parking for all my professional life. Its been interesting and often controversial but I enjoyed my chosen career.
There is a highly professional industry sorting out your parking problems. Its well represented by the British Parking Association and the European Parking Association. Parking controls are often perceived as predatory and money grabbing, Sometimes referered to as ‘a war on the motorist’. However our cities would be impossibly congested and dangerous without car parks and parking regulations in the same way as flying would be impossible without Air Traffic Control!
